European Technology Platform - RHC

Apr. 29, 2009 – EGEC (European Geothermal Energy Council) invites the European geothermal community to the Official Launch of the Geothermal Panel in the European Technology Platform for renewable heating and cooling (ETP-RHC): Kick-off meeting on 26 June 2009 in Brussels (Renewable Energy House).

European Technology Platform - RHC

The European Technology Platform - RHC is now officially created and endorsed by the European Commission. Four panels are created: Solar Thermal / Biomass / Geothermal / Cross cutting issues (District heating, Storage, Cooling…)

European Technology Platforms (ETPs) are instruments created by the European Commission to bring together stakeholders in technology to strengthen Europe’s leading position in certain technological fields. ETPs are expected to have a decisive influence on European R&D politics. The Platform intends to elaborate detailed research strategies within the next two years.

Geothermal Panel

The establishment of a geothermal panel in this ETP is a very important step to help accelerate the development of geothermal technology so that it can quickly become a significant energy resource in Europe. The kick-off meeting will take place in Brussels on the 26 June 2009. The meeting will serve as the first step in creating the different working groups (Geothermal Heat Pumps, …: see priorities of the research agenda) and in electing the Geothermal Panel’s Steering Committee.

Interested parties will be invited later on to submit an Expression of Interest to become member of the Geothermal Panel’s Steering Committee. Selection of the SC members will take place in May 2009.
