Formation of the International Geothermal Business Coalition
Nov. 01, 2011 – Five leading geothermal trade and business associations have joined together to establish the International Geothermal Business Coalition. They call upon governments around the world to expand their efforts to utilize geothermal resources as an important part of the answer to global environmental, climate change, and energy security problems. The European Geothermal Energy Council, the US Geothermal Energy Association, the Canadian Geothermal Energy Association, the Australian Geothermal Energy Association, and the Chilean Geothermal Energy Association represent the original founders of this coalition. » read more
EU ground-source heat pump installation base exceeds 1 million units
Oct. 25, 2011 – A new study has found a 2.9% decrease of the ground source heat pump (GSHP) market in the EU in 2010, partly due to an increasing focus on aerothermal heat pumps. Despite this, cumulative GSHP installations in the EU surpassed 1 million units, with leading markets in terms of 2010 sales being Sweden, Germany, France, Finland, Austria and the Netherlands. » read more
Proven heat pump concept for a science college
Sep. 28, 2011 – First monitoring results confirm the efficiency of the building and energy concept for the Science College Overbach, Germany. Optimizing the operation of the ground source heat pump since its start in 2009 resulted in a higher Sesonal Performance Factor than expected (SPF=4,5 including compressor and brine pump). » read more
