Project: Refurbishment of four blocks of flats

Aug. 17, 2011 – The project entitled "Refurbishment and CO2-neutral heat supply to a 1950’s residential complex" is carried out in the framework of the German incentive programme EnEff:Stadt (Research for the energy efficient city). The objective of the project is to modernise and refurbish the buildings at a standard that the primary energy requirement is at least 50 percent below the value recently permitted for a new building.

A custom-made compression heat pump driven by a gas motor was chosen to provide the heat demand, using ground water as the heat source.

An additional gas condensing boiler will guarantee high supply temperatures of the heating circuits and is available to cover the peak load. This combination allows optimised operation of the gas motor heat pump. To reach the objective of a CO2 neutral residential complex, some of the heat is generated via a solar thermal tube collector array.
